Sarkodie's rap standard has fallen - Mark Okraku

Ace music producer, Mark Okraku-Mantey On Joy Fm’s Rythm A-Z hosted by Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye, said Sarkodie doesn’t have any moral right to say most of the stuffs in the song and that of late, there is no content in even his song, the productions are weak, there is no theme, his chorus doesn’t even relate to the whole song in general.
“Standards in rap has fallen, even the production has weakened. Compare any song of Lord Kenya to that of Sarkodie’s songs, there is a vast difference in terms of production, content, theme. Take a song like Sarkodie’s ‘push push’, the entire song has nothing to do with the chorus.”
He adds, "Even Sarkodie’s rap standard has fallen. Compare his old songs to that of the new ones he’s releasing nowadays, you would clearly see that there is a difference. In a long while, the only song that has content for me and was well produced is his ‘Hand to mouth’ song”.

I rejected GHAMRO cash - Lord Kenya

Former Ghanaian hiplife artiste turned evangelist, Evangelist Lord Kenya in an interview with Anning Ogee Oscar on Bekwai-based Dess FM 90.3 last Saturday, said he rejected an offer from Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO) as his royalty.
"Yesterday, I had a call from GHAMRO asking me to come for my royalty. So I asked myself that have these people not heard that I have said it a number of times that I am not interested in any money from my past? I have nothing to do with my past. My Lord didn't call me to disgrace me. I have something precious from my God, and that is peace. My reference is from Philippians 4:7."

I Have Nothing Against Sarkodie – Lord Kenya

Former hiplife artiste, Lord Kenya, has indicated that his comment on Sarkodie which suggested that the latter is not the best rapper has been taken out of context.
News on Lord Kenya labelling Sarkodie as a braggart went viral with a section of the public deducing that the secular artiste-turned-pastor took a swipe at Sarkodie out of jealousy or probably with the aim of bringing the Illuminati rapper down.
“You don’t become the best rapper in one year, it’s for decades. Before we say someone is the best, do you know how many years he has to work for it? To be honest, how many albums does he [Sarkodie] have? I’m asking them to stop bragging…he [Sarkodie] hasn’t arrived yet and has to take his time… Okyeame Kwame is the best because he knows what he is doing,” Lord Kenya reportedly stated on Starr Chat.
But speaking to Hitz News, Lord Kenya, admitting that Sarkodie is a good rapper said his remark was a harmless piece of advice and not a direct attack.
“I have nothing against my brother, he is doing his own thing but if you ask me, that’s what I think he is doing [bragging]. He is a good rapper by all standards but we are humans. There are some things I might be doing that’s not right. And when people say tone down, I think it is an advice. I think we’ve taken the whole thing out of proportion. It is not a personal attack. I’m above that…” he said.
Lord Kenya, who has seven albums to his credit, has for the past six years been dedicated to his ministry after encountering God.

Sarkodie is a National Treasure and an African Asset – BULLDOG

Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hansen, creative director of Bullhaus Entertainment has declared Sackcess Music act Sarkodie a national treasure. In a Facebook post, Bulldog wrote;
“He had been widely spoken of but I’d never seen him before like Jesus Christ. I set eyes on him in Kwahu some eight or nine years back for the first time, in the early days of
Adom FM ‘s Easter street carnival.
We were the sensational team, that had taken Ghana hostage with our monster hit song “AfrikanGurlz” and was billed for every show in the country at the time. We were about mounting the stage when his manager approached Jerry Justice and told him he’s back stage and has been there for a while.
If my memory serves me right, Jerry’s response at the time to his colleague was in the negative and said he wasn’t billed to perform so he should mark time. The fear was, after 5Five’s performance all the other hit makers will come on and he may not make an appearance, so the plea was to get him on before us.
The audience were thrilled to pieces with 5Five’s performance that indelible night, on our downward climb off stage he was being readied to go on and that’s when I caught a peek at him.
There and then I noticed the hunger in his eyes, the thirst to be heard, the libido for illustriousness. I felt the aura and sprightliness that engulfs him. Ever since that moment, I have keenly observed him. So when the opportunity availed itself for us to work together for greatness, I was humbled. I could foretell him climbing a ladder of power and walking the corridors of high standing.
In my almost a month in lockup, between the hours of 12 midnight and 3am was when we had our prayer service led by young pastor Isaac. In one of the worships he preached about “Okordie” the bird and its qualities. As the sermon travelled into the wee hours of the morning, all I visualized was the musical gem.
VISION. FEARLESSNESS. TENACITY. VITALITY. HIGH FLYER, does not SCAVENGE and also NURTURES their young ones. A few qualities of the eagle.
What is really fascinating is that he never gives up living, instead he retreats to the workroom and over a period goes through mutation. Like the eagle, it knocks off its own beak by smacking it against a rock, plucks out its talons and then feathers. Each stage produces a re-growth of the removed body parts, enabling the eagle to live for three to four decades more.
He still posses that crave I spotted in his eyes back then. Treading consciously on the path of my prediction of him giving Ghana a Grammy. I have listened to countless beautiful songs of his and it’s divine how he never mince words neither does he scavenge off others lyrically.
Intuitively, he represents the BRANDNAME. He is a NATIONAL TREASURE and an AFRICAN ASSET.
I doff of my hat to Dr Duncan for discovering him.
SARKODIE epitomizes the EAGLE in the GHANA COAT OF ARMS.

Life Wasn’t All Rosy – Jay Foley

Ghanaian Radio and television personality, Jay Foley says that he didn’t have it all rosy growing up.
According to the co-host of LBC on Live 91.9 Fm, there were many things he wished he had enjoyed but could not because of the family he was from.
“Growing up was not easy for me; it was tough, I mean , I did not get it all rosy, I don’t come from a rich family, it was an average one.
“ It was my dad, my mom, my siblings, in our place of abode, managing our own affairs,” he said in an interview with Delay on the Delay Show on Viasat 1.
Giving an example of what he wished he had enjoyed, he said; “the school I attended was close to my house so every time we close I walk home and I get to see parents in cars coming for their wards in the school and I also wished I had that kind of treatment.”
The CEO of 2131 said because he was not happy with his situation, he told himself that he was going to make a difference, he was going to challenge himself and become an instrumental vessel of change in the society.
“I knew where I was coming from so I became a wild thinker, I was hungry for success, I did not want to stay there forever, I wanted things to change and I was willing to work and make that happen and I will say, that is part of the reasons why I am where I am today,” he said.
He added that his private firm 2131 is all about empowering the youth to believe in themselves and have an inner conviction that whatever they set their minds to do, they can achieve adding that “the only barricade that will stop you from achieving your dreams was you.”
