Talented Nigerian musician, Abolore Akande, well known by his stage name 9ice has said he is happy to observe that Nigerian politicians
have expanded their campaign trail to Ghana.
Some Nigerian opposition parties, last week, erected giant bill boards in Ghana’s capital,Accra, canvassing for votes ahead of the February 14 elections.
A week on, the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan’s billboards have also popped up at
key locations in the capital.
Speaking on the Starr Drive on Starr 103.5 FM Wednesday afternoon, the Gongo Aso hitmaker said he was fully aware of role Ghana as a
nation plays in the “running of Nigeria” but was more impressed to have arrived in the country and see what his fellow politicians have been up to.
“It is good that they come to erect the billboards here. In fact, the truth is Ghana and Nigeria should have been one nation. I don’t know why.they separated us. But as far as there are Nigerians here, we should be reaching out to them,” he remarked.
The issue of Nigerian politicians mounting bill boards in Ghana has become a controversial matter in the West African country.
9ice was one of the many Nigerians celebrities who stood to represent their constituencies in Nigeria’s House of Representatives in the 2014 elections.
The singer lost his bid to represent his Ogbomosho North/South/Orire constituency.
He told Bola Ray he does not consider it as a loss. “It was not that I didn’t succeed. Things happened in that elections that I cannot begin to talk about".
Akande, however, said he was proud of actor Desmond Elliot, who secured the APC delegates’ nod to represent Surulere at the Lagos State
House of Assembly.
