President John Dramani Mahama has exalted Ghanaian radio and television stations to play more local music. President Mahama speaking on the issue in an interview on Uniiq FM stated that: “I think Ghanaians are taking to our music and a lot of our young people are taking to our music. There’s been an influx/invasion of Nigerian music. Competition is good and so when Nigerian music comes in, it kind of inspires and encourages our own artistes to also up their game and so I think that is good. We listen to a lot of Nigerian music and Ghanaian music too.”
He added “We must aim for a fair balance in terms of foreign music and local music. Foreign music is good…I don’t we should overplay foreign at the expense of our local music,”
